The Maui Department of Water Supply has announced that Central Maui's water system has adequate capacity to meet current demand, greenlighting the continued issuance of water meters for new development. While this is positive news for the real estate sector, the department also highlights a narrowing margin between supply and demand, signaling a need for careful monitoring and potential future conservation measures.

Maui's real estate developers, investors, and entrepreneurs can breathe a collective sigh of relief, as a recent report from the Maui Department of Water Supply indicates sufficient water capacity for continued development in Central Maui. The Central District, which encompasses a wide area from South Maui to Central Maui and eastward to Spreckelsville and Pāʻia, currently has the ability to supply water to the existing community and also issue new meters required for forthcoming projects. This is very welcome news for those looking to build in the area. Despite this positive announcement, the Department also observed that the margin between the maximum reliable capacity and current demand has been narrowing, indicating the need for vigilance.
