In a move aimed at bolstering the economic vitality of Pahoa, Councilwoman Ashley Kierkiewicz hosted a community presentation to discuss draft legislation focused on revitalizing the downtown area. The initiative seeks to build upon existing community-driven plans, including the Puna Community Development Plan, Kīlauea Recovery & Resilience Plan, and Eruption Economic Recovery Plan, and Revitalize Puna, to provide options for property owners and small businesses to expand permitted uses in the Pāhoa area. This legislation represents a significant step towards fostering economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs and investors in the region.

The legislation's scope and details were presented to the community at the Pāhoa Neighborhood Facility, as well as virtually via Zoom, allowing for broad participation from residents.
