SERA, the Mediterranean restaurant situated within the Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa, has appointed Jeremy Shigekane as its new executive chef. This transition marks an exciting chapter for the restaurant, promising innovative culinary experiences rooted in locally sourced ingredients. Shigekane, a graduate of Mililani High School, brings a distinctly local perspective to his role, which is expected to influence SERA's seasonal menu offerings.

Prior to joining SERA, Chef Shigekane honed his skills at several prestigious establishments. His experience includes positions at 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar at Prince Waikiki, along with The Royal Hawaiian and The Kahala Hotel & Resort. This diverse background has equipped him with a strong foundation in fine dining and resort-style culinary approaches. The new chef's arrival coincides with the restaurant's focus on coastal-inspired cuisine, aligning with its beachfront location.

The restaurant, formerly known as MARA Restaurant & Bar, still maintains its Mediterranean theme and interior decor, as reported by Aloha State Daily. SERA, under the operational management of DB Restaurant Group, also operates a variety of other popular eateries.

The Renaissance Honolulu Hotel & Spa itself, as highlighted by Marriott's website, offers guests a diverse range of dining options. SERA's focus on locally sourced ingredients is indicative of a broader trend within Hawaii's hospitality industry. This trend emphasizes the importance of supporting local farmers, reducing the environmental impact of food supply chains, and enhancing the overall dining experience for visitors and residents alike.

With Shigekane at the helm, SERA is poised to further enhance its reputation and solidify its place within Honolulu's vibrant culinary scene. The restaurant's strategic location and focus on coastal-inspired fare suggest a promising future.
